Ono observation.

This is the popular pasttime of viewers in the "Southland" (a.k.a. southern California) who enjoy watching ABC local news anchor David Ono in the evenings. Someone asked a long time ago, in the comments for an older Ono post, how old he is. I don't know and it's hard to tell because he has a certain ageless quality to him.

I recently noticed an article on Ono and a speech he gave at a local university. David Ono discusses career as Asian-American journalist
Ono also shared his experience with the low salaries he earned in the beginning of his journalism career, and the fact that while he worked in Texas, his ethnicity was not an issue because everyone in Texas assumed he was Hispanic since he was non-white. Ono moved to work for a television station in Sacramento, and he became more aware about the issue of ethnicity because of California’s diversity. He moved to Los Angeles in 1996 and his ethnicity played a notable part of his social and professional life. He realized that he was the only Asian man in the industry.
Related: AAJA News: Asian American Male Anchor, Minneapolis Station Hires Asian American Male to Anchor Main Newscast also mentions David Ono.
Ninomiya joins a small number of other Asian- American male anchors who have anchored a main newscast. David Ono currently anchors the 5 p.m. newscast at KABC-TV in Los Angeles. Ken Kashiwahara worked as an anchor and reporter at KHVH & KGMB in Honolulu, and James Hattori and Dalton Tanonaka have both anchored news programs at CNN.
The only person I recognize (besides Ono) from that list is James Hattori of CNN of MSNBC. Someone not mentioned there who comes to mind is Ted Chen.
